John Edmonds
Founder and President

John has worked in the employee benefits arena for 40 + years.  His career started in 1979 with Great-West Life, marketing self-funded group health plans to medium-sized groups from 100 to 1,000 employees.  In 1982, he joined William M. Mercer, Inc. and rose to manage the Benefits division of Marsh & McLennan Group Associates - a sister company to Mercer.  In 1986, he joined UNUM Insurance Company, specializing in health, dental, life and disability products offered to employers through a Cafeteria/Flexible menu approach.  In 1988, John formed his own brokerage consulting company, Coastal Financial Group, which was rebranded as Edmonds Insurance Benefits, Inc. in 2014.  EIB currently provides employee benefits, brokerage, and consulting services to various small, medium, and large sized employer groups.

Chris Edmonds
Vice President

Chris graduated from the University of Nebraska Kearney in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and Management.  Chris started out in the Insurance Industry working for Mutual of Omaha as a Group Sales Representative in Los Angeles.  In 1988, Chris joined forces at Lincoln National/Employers Health marketing Group products and Flexible Spending Accounts to Large Groups.  Her last stop was with New York Life  In 1993 until Chris made the decision to work on the Broker side of the business with John Edmonds in 1997. 

 

During her child-rearing years, Chris worked part-time in the family business and enjoyed the involvement she had raising her children - volunteering for many school activities, school board, sports boards (baseball/track) and serving 9 years as a Girl Scout Troop Leader.  Chris enjoys traveling, going to concerts, any type of sport ballgames, camping, cooking, power walks on the strand and most recently, Pilates.  Chris’ main asset to the business is her warm customer service to our clients.  She truly cares and is very detail oriented and makes sure the follow-through is complete.  What’s the best part of being an Insurance Broker?  “It is the ability to help people!  That is the most rewarding part of my job!”

Austin graduated from the University of Arizona Eller School of Management in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and a Minor in Global Business.  Before working at EIB, Austin worked at various banks and wealth management firms where he obtained his Series 6, 63, and Life insurance licenses.  He decided to transition to the group benefits industry and has been an exceptional asset to the firm.  Austin is currently studying to obtain the Certified Financial Planner - CFP® designation. 

 

When Austin is not in the office, he enjoys rooting for his favorite sports teams (Dodgers/Rams/Lakers/Kings/Arizona Wildcats),  playing golf, flying airplanes, traveling, the outdoors, and cooking on the grill. 

Tom has over 50 years of employee benefits experience in a variety of sales, brokerage, consulting, and management roles.  As a broker/consultant his client mix includes large, multi-state corporations and small, privately owned entities.  Tom’s background includes serving as President of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nevada, Executive Director of Lincoln National Health Plans for Southern California, Director of Provider Network Development for American Medical International (AMI) Hospitals, Inc., Benefits Consultant for William M. Mercer, Inc. (the largest international benefits consulting firm), and as a registered healthcare lobbyist.  Tom founded his benefits brokerage firm in 1991.  In 2014, he created an alliance with Edmonds Insurance Benefits, Inc. which now provides supporting services to his clients. 

 

Tom received his Bachelor of Psychology degree from California State University, Los Angeles.

Taylor Dotson
Consultant

Taylor graduated from Sonoma State University where she played soccer and majored in Accounting and Finance.  While attending Sonoma State, Taylor was granted many awards including CCAA Freshman of the Year, Sonoma State Female Freshman of the Year, and CCAA All-Academic honors.  Taylor has worked at various CPA firms and has become a vital consultant for EIB.  Her business and financial knowledge have been exceptional in helping clients maneuver the employee benefits space. 

 

When Taylor is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and going to the beach.

Reilly Edmonds
Consultant

Reilly studied at the University of California, Berkeley, and graduated with a background in Public Health.  While at Berkeley, Reilly was involved in numerous clubs and associations.  One of her favorite experiences at UC Berkeley was becoming an athletic trainer for the Cal Football team.  After graduating, Reilly went to work for Mercer Advisors where she was a Health Consulting Senior Analyst.  Reilly was primarily focused in the large group arena where she consulted on large tech accounts such as Adobe and Facebook.  Reilly has been a crucial part of the team giving valuable insight to small and large group market clients.   

 

When Reilly is not working, she enjoys volunteering, visiting national parks, attending workout classes, and baking desserts.
